ECOsmarte® Water Filtration System for City Water
For over 30 years, ECOsmarte® has led the industry in creating no salt water softeners and advanced filtration systems for city water. Our Point-of-Entry systems don’t just filter; they transform your water into bottled water-quality, chemical-free water, right from the tap. We treat all of your water with whole house filters engineered to last five to seven years.
Municipal Water Filtration - Our Point-of-Entry Systems

Modern municipal water systems rely heavily on chemical disinfectants like chlorine to prevent waterborne diseases. However, these chemicals come at a cost. ECOsmarte®'s Point-of-Entry systems reduce up to 99.5% of chlorine, ammonia, and other harmful chemicals that may be added to municipal water supplies.
Our unique system uses copper ionization and oxygenation to sanitize your water in a chemical-free manner. Plus, it protects your plumbing by preventing hard-scale mineral buildup, offering better scale control and longer-lasting appliances. Whether it's your hot water heater, dishwasher, or ice maker, our system extends their lifespan by reducing wear and tear from hard calcium and corrosive sodium.
Whole House Water Filter For City Water
With a sleek design that takes up less space than traditional softeners, the ECOsmarte® Point-of-Entry system is more than just a filter, it’s a complete water purification system. It includes a water tank with an electronic control head, filter media bags, and an ionization/oxidation chamber. Installation takes only 2-4 hours, and it requires zero maintenance for three years.
This system offers unparalleled pharmaceutical removal, VOC removal, iron removal, and manganese removal, ensuring bottled water quality throughout your entire home—indoor and outdoor, hot and cold.
One of the leading reasons people invest in water filtration is to prevent scale buildup. Our no salt water softener provides the best solution for city water, protecting your plumbing and fixtures from hard minerals. This not only helps extend the life of your appliances but also reduces maintenance costs. No corrosive sodium in the water.
Our ECOsmarte® Point-of-Entry system takes water quality to a whole new level, using ionization to create harmless mineral ions that prevent bacterial and algal growth in your plumbing. Recognized by the US EPA, our copper ionization process offers microbial protection without stripping away essential minerals like calcium and magnesium—vital for your health. Best of all, there’s no need for salt, chemicals, or consumables for at least three years, keeping operating costs as low as $400.

Installation
ECOsmarte® Point-of-Entry Systems are designed for simple installation, whether by a handy homeowner or a licensed plumber. Installation typically takes 2-4 hours. It’s best to install the system where the water service enters your home, and remember, it's important to protect the system from freezing temperatures.
To operate, the system requires a 110-volt electrical connection and a way to drain the waste water produced during periodic backwashing of the filter media. The water used during this process is environmentally safe, so feel free to direct it onto your lawn or into a sewer system. For added peace of mind, ECOsmarte® can also arrange installation by a licensed plumber in most North American markets.
Operation & Maintenance of Our City Water Filtration Model
Our Point-of-Entry systems are nearly hands-off, with all the work happening automatically. The filter media backwashes itself based on programmable settings and has a lifespan of about 5-7 years. When it’s time to replace the filter media, it costs approximately $300, and you can either handle the replacement yourself or have us send you a pre-charged tank.
The ionization chamber requires a bit of cleaning 2-3 times a year, but it only takes about 10 minutes. The copper electrodes, which provide residual bacterial protection, last 5-7 years and cost $175 to replace. The system doesn’t use any chemicals or salt, making it as low-maintenance as a total home water treatment system can be.
No chemicals, no salt, just simple, effective whole house water filtration.

Q: Is copper in the water safe for me?
Absolutely. The amount of copper added is minimal just enough to protect your water from bacteria. You’d get more copper from a multivitamin than from drinking two gallons of water from your system in one day.
Q: How does the ECOsmarte® Point-of-Entry System work?
When water enters the filter tanks, harmful contaminants like VOC, chlorine, and pharmaceuticals are removed. Then, copper ions are added as the water passes through the ionization chamber. These ions provide residual bacterial protection, ensuring no bacteria grows in your waterlines, even when the water isn’t used often.
Q: Is the system easy to install?
Yes, it’s designed to be installed by a mechanically-inclined homeowner in 2-4 hours. Alternatively, a licensed plumber or even many pool companies can handle it. If you prefer, ECOsmarte® can arrange professional installation for you.
Q: Is the system easy to operate and maintain?
Definitely. The system operates automatically, with the filter media backwashing based on a pre-set schedule. The only real maintenance is cleaning the ionization chamber twice a year, which takes under 15 minutes and doesn’t require any tools.
Q: What are the annual costs to operate the ECOsmarte® Point-of-Entry System?
There are no ongoing annual costs. Every 5-7 years, you’ll need to replace the filter media (about $500) and the copper electrodes ($175). Over time, this works out to less than a penny per gallon of water.
Q: If ECOsmarte® is so great, why haven’t I heard of it before?
We’ve been around for over 30 years, with over 30,000 installations worldwide. Until recently, we focused on internet marketing, but now we’re expanding into a global network of dealers and installers. In fact, we now have over 1,000 factory-trained installers.
Q: Why should I choose an ECOsmarte® system over reverse osmosis?
Reverse osmosis systems are costly and impractical for treating an entire house. They also strip away essential minerals like calcium and magnesium, leaving the water unprotected against bacteria. ECOsmarte®, on the other hand, offers comprehensive filtration without removing the beneficial minerals.
Q: How does the ECOsmarte® system differ from other water softeners?
Most traditional water softeners, like those sold by Culligan or Sears, add salt to your water to make it feel softer. This doesn’t remove harmful chemicals and can even leave your plumbing vulnerable to bacterial growth. ECOsmarte®'s no salt water softener not only softens your water, but also removes harmful chemicals and ensures your plumbing is bacteria-free.
Q: Our water smells like rotten eggs and causes orange stains. Will the ECOsmarte® system fix this?
Yes. After reviewing your water sample, we’ll customize your system with the right filters to address problems like arsenic removal, nitrate removal, and sulfur (the culprit behind the rotten egg smell). If additional tanks are needed, they’re provided at no extra cost.
